At University Surgical Associates PC, we are pleased to have D. Charles Gross, MDFACS as the Thoracic Surgeon on our team.
Thoracic Surgery involves the structures of the chest: the heart, lungs, pleura (coverings of the lungs), esophagus, and great vessels. Dr. Gross provides procedures, from open biopsy to the resection of tumors, drainage of infections of the chest, and esophageal surgery.
While Dr. Gross is the Thoracic Surgeon, each surgeon on our team is able and experienced in placing chest tubes. This is a common procedure meant to remove fluid from the chest cavity or to treat a collapsed lung.
Chest tubes are often placed bedside with light sedation and are a common and effective treatment option for some thoracic problems.
